how eef works

eef is a UK registered charity. Its’ sole function is to provide secondary school scholarships to severely underprivileged children in Ethiopia.

Each year eef will offer around 20 secondary school scholarships to disadvantaged youngsters that have shown considerable academic potential and have a strong desire to succeed despite their desperate situation.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide a solid education for the last four years of secondary school (grades 9-12, aged 14-18).

The ultimate objective of the programme is to enable university entrance for all our scholars and provide them with a path to make a real difference to their own lives and their country’s development.

Each student accepted onto the programme will have an individual mentor who will cover the cost of the student’s education.

eef will establish a direct relationship between student and mentor, giving both a chance to communicate regularly by email, exchange information and benefit from each others experiences.

eef is a very lean organisation with almost zero administration costs - no offices, telephone lines or heavy infrastructure to support. Hence every pound donated to eef directly helps eef’s students.
